The nüvi 755T comes preloaded together with highly detailed City Navigator NT road maps from Navteq for the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. This map database features nearly six million points of interest (POIs), counting hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. Garmin's interface is a key to their success and one of the things this makes their devices such a pleasure to use. Neat controls and sub-screens do it simple to enter or search for destinations and get data concerning your trip.

Garmin's patent pending theft prevention system this disables the unit from performing any functions until the customer types in a specific 4-digit PIN or takes the unit to a predetermined secure setting.

Important Product Information: This device features a "screen lock" aspect. This is a standard aspect on all nüvi 2x5 and 7x5 Garmin units. If you slide the "Power" key to the right, it will lock the screen and prevent any accidental touches. One time the screen lock aspect is engaged, the screen will go black/gray afterwards concerning 15 seconds to save power on the device. To open the screen, just slide the "Power" key to the center position. This aspect is really targeted for "Pedestrian" mode so this a customer can put the device in his or her pocket/purse and shortly open the screen instead of powering on/off constantly. For extra information, see page 5 of the product manual.

Together with Lane Guidance, the nüvi alerts you to which lane you want to be in for upcoming turns. In the picture above, the three middle lanes of this seven-lane highway are highlighted.

Together with Junction View, you'll get photo-realistic 3D views upcoming turns together with signage--marks not necessary for navigation are faded.
Lane Guidance
Together with the new Lane Guidance aspect built into the nüvi 7x5 series, you'll never question which lane you should be driving in again. It offers you together with a view of what lane you should be in for upcoming turns. And together with the 3D Lane Assist Junction View, you'll be effective to see a photo-realistic screen this shows you together the road detail as well as the marks as you will see them on the road. The marks this aren't necessary for navigation are faded compared to the appropriate lane signage.

Included Traffic Receiver

No subscriptions or additional hardware necessary. Just open the box, turn it on, and get instantaneous access to traffic information--the traffic updates are free for the life of the device.

All you have to do is just touch the screen to view traffic details and you'll be ready to detour all-around any problem region. And if you end up missing a turn, or you're forced into a detour this is not relayed throughout the traffic receiver, the nüvi's sophisticated automatic routing will get you back on track in no time. Watch informational video

In much areas, the traffic broadcasts are continuous--there's no waiting for scheduled traffic news updates or random alerts. For the reason that traffic broadcasts are received via a "silent" FM data channel, you can still pay attention to music or news programming on your car radio not including interference from incoming FM traffic data transmissions.

HotFix Satellite Prediciton
Garmin's HotFix ability automatically calculates and stores satellite locations, greatly reducing satellite acquisition time so this you can turn the unit on and get going. Together with HotFix, your nüvi remembers the position of all satellites it is tracking when you turn it off, and calculates their movements in order to predict where they should be the next time you turn it on. HotFix can predict satellite positions for up to 3 days afterwards the device was last turned off.

Multi-Destination Routing
This lets you enter several spots into the device (day care - supermarket-cleaners - office - day care, for example) and it will plot the fastest route. And one time you've found the excellent router, the "Route Planning" aspect lets you save up to 10 different routes, Garmin touts the aspect for getting, "the much efficient route for errands, deliveries and sales calls." The aspect in addition makes this an instantaneous necessary accessory for anyone who shops garage sales (you recognize what we're talking concerning). A trip log offers an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you've been on the map.

Where Am I? Where's My Car?
The nüvi 7x5 series is the first to answer two common questions: "Where am I?" and "Where’s my car?" At any time, together with a single tap of the screen, drivers can display their exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. And to help drivers locate their car in an unfamiliar spot or vast parking lot, all nüvi 7x5s automatically mark the position in which they were last removed from the mount.

Customer Reviews

Customer rating is 4 of 5  Never owned a GPS before-   2010-07-30
By Katie Dugan (GAINESVILLE, GA, US)
I purchased this item for a recent road trip to the Pacific Northwest, San Francisco to Seattle. I did quite a bit of research and found this GPS got wonderful reviews all around.
The Good: worked pretty great on the trip, decent recalculation times and POI's (although it did fail to find a large strip mall close to my home that was built 3-4 years ago, so I'm not sure how recently the maps in this software have been updated). At first I thought that the calculation times were really slow, but it definitely helps if you use the "Near" button at the bottom of the screen to narrow your searches. Using this feature is highly recommended. One feature I definitely appreciated was that one confusing highways, the view switches to snapshot of the highway signs and lanes to better direct you where to go. This only happened twice on the trip, but the switches were well timed and very helpful.
The Bad: There are more than a few places not included in the pre-programmed POI's. Sometimes searches take 3 or more minutes (which doesn't sound like a lot- until you're in a hurry.
The Ugly: I hate the keyboard! The buttons are hard to press and it feels like it takes forever, especially for place names longer than 12 or so letters. Often I press a letter and a completely different letter appears on the screen, necessitating use of the erase button, which is inconveniently placed and hard to press, even though my fingers are small even for a woman's.

Overall, I am satisfied with this product, although if I could go back and choose again, I might make a different choice.
Customer rating is 4 of 5  Gets me to the church on time   2010-07-29
By D. Thompson
This product works pretty good. The driving directions are clear and fairly accurate. The directions of use and how to use the features are poor. I like the display showing time of arrival and speed limits, speed signs are a little sparse in this area, but cops and their tickets are not. I have noticed a lag in responce time. Several times it will tell me I have 500 ft before the turn when in reality I'm right at the turn. It seems to be a few seconds behind me, with my driving style a few seconds behind can be too late. If you drive more reasonably there should be no problem. I am a little disappointed with the lack of additional voices and images that are available for Garmin users looks like the others have snatched up most of the voice-overs.

One thing I wish Garmin would do is let you edit the maps. I drive out to Reservations where the maps do not cover, I would like to program in the roads so I can find my way out or back in again. I know another GPS provider allows you to edit.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great value for GPS   2010-07-28
By JD
As a first time GPS user, I was looking for a GPS that would give me the basics but also have some amenities to it as well and this GPS has done just that. I was intrigued by the traffic and the multi-point destinations specifically as it set itself apart from other similarly priced units that had what I wanted.

The traffic feature, when available, is nice and has helped navigate to destinations. It has been reliable as far as how long and where a backup will be. However, I wish that the traffic feature was available in a broader area. Advertisements on GPS are very small and a non-issue.

The multi-point destination, which I was looking foward to, is great to have. Having the speed limit available while driving has also been very useful.

When forced to take an alternate route because of a downed tree, the GPS recalculated very quickly and put me on a differrent route.

The volume and voice is loud and clear from the unit.

In my opinion, this GPS is well worth the price listed on Amazon.

Customer rating is 5 of 5  Gamin nuvi 755T   2010-07-26
By Robert C Labit (DESTREHAN, LA, US)
Upgraded from older Garmin GPS.
The 755T works great, love the traffic information and ease of use.

Customer rating is 3 of 5  Lane assist is the bomb   2010-07-26
By Timothy C. Mak (Bay Area, CA)
I love the lane assist feature on this unit when I'm in unfamiliar areas.

I have two main complaints of this unit. I wish the spoken voices were more clear. I find myself still having to look at the unit because I didn't understand what was said. This can be dangerous in high traffic conditions where you need to make split-second decisions.

My second issue is that the keyboard is too small when typing addresses. I'm sure this is just a matter of time before I adjust but it's definitely been a source of frustration for my wife who has much smaller hands and shouldn't have the same problems I have!
