Customer Reviews
Nice package, marginal optics

This scope comes packed with features that work surprisingly well for the money. After a night's practice, you be finding objects very quickly. I've used everything from dept store scopes to a 24" Schmidt Camera observatory, and believe me, the ability to easily find and track things should not be undervalued. It's a lot of work to chase the charts then search the great abyss; most of the time you walk away empty handed. The automated mount is a GREAT feature for the money. It is a bit plasticy, but that's to be expected at this budget level. It works.
After the very useful computerized mount and basic tripod, seems there's just not enough cash left in this deal for the optics. Even the Moon is a little disappointing at high magnification. The best view of Jupiter is a fairly small, nearly featureless disk with clear, easy to spot moons. I've managed better views of Jupiter for less money, but not with tracking.
Precise focusing is difficult with the shaky tripod. The manual is oddly organized and not very useful. Lastly, the main tube came in an dull aluminum color, not the deep blue color shown.
All things considered, this scope serves as a great first introduction to the sky. You can find all sorts of objects, then wish you could see them better. If your on a strict budget, go for it. If you will likely upgrade at some point anyway, then save your money start with better optics.
Easy to use and quick set up.

I bought three of these at X-mas, one for me and two for a our nephews. It took just a few minutes to set up and I was using the GO TO function right off the bat.
The planets look great, we can see rings of Saturn easily, moons around most planets, nebulas, double stars clearly and galaxies with no trouble.
I'm impressed with this scope. I used to have much bigger reflectors in the past and this is easier to use and is clearer and more natural in color of objects viewed.
