I liked the unit but it is now stuck on one screen and it will not go further. Be warry of the 1 month return policy for this.

Ok, this is my 3rd GPS. I had a Mio 3 years ago and is still working and I really like the features like zooming view, but it doesn't have text to speech. So I got a Sony closeout GPS more than a year ago. It died on me a month ago as the backlight stopped working. I bought it for less than a 100 so I won't have it fixed. Although I also liked it as it had a twin view on turns and lane assist was also great, but the routes were a little bad. So off to get a new one, I thought at this time any GPS would be great, but read a lot of horror stories on any brand. So I took the risk on this one, a refurbished Tomtom, as it is the cheapest one I could find with the features I need, TTS and lane assist. So if the horror stories are right at least it didn't cost me a lot and I would just get a new one a year later. After having trouble updating my map as everyone had experienced here, I was able to get through it. The painful experience here is that since the device is usb 1.1 it is very slow to update and know if what you did was the right thing, so it took me overnight to get the thing working with the new map. Now everything is working fine, I have played around with the voice, icons and updated the gpsfix, map updates, and anything that comes up on Tomtom Home with no problem. It's not the best but I don't think that even exist. So if you have the nerves for it, try it!! I have taken it from NY to Maryland, and NY to Atlantic City and seems to give good routes. I even skipped an hour long traffic because of the "avoid block" feature, that's why I didn't even bother with the free Traffic version. It also seems to have a good list of POI and tells you if it is on your route. You cannot touch on a POI on the map though and just route to it like the Mio I had. So if you are reading this just pick one brand already as there is no such thing as the best GPS.

This product is awesome. The 'Tom Tom Home' feature is cool. Just hook up to your PC via included USB cable and go online. This unit updates and you can add different voices. The display is nice on the eyes. The best feature, though, is the suction mount which is easy to use and eliminates the need to buy a seperate window mount kit. The XL 340S I bought is a factory refurbished model. It might as well be new! for only $89.99 it is an awesome buy! New unit cost is almost $200.

I currently own a TomTom - my second unit. I like the way everything is laid out and its easy to use. Street/highway name gets called out when making turns which is nice and the lane clarification arrow really helps on those confusing interchanges. I bought this batch of TomToms for door prizes at vendor shows. Got a bunch of refurbs at a great deal. If you are looking for a nav system, you won't be sorry with a TomTom.

This is the second refurbished GPS I have purchased. The first was with a smaller screen and was a competitive brand. I like the Tom Tom better because it has a large screen and is much easier to program than my first one. And you certainally can't beat the price. It looked almost like new right out of the box with a complete instruction book that is easy to follow. I would have given the GPS a five star rating but there was a small scratch on the screen. It is haradly noticable when the GPS is turned on. I would not hesitate to buy the product again.
