InfinityLab Power Banks & Chargers

There is a new player in town in the portable power and charging space: InfinityLab by Harman.

Yes, Harman, the company that brings you such brands as JBL, Harman Kardon, Infinity (Audio) and many others.

Why have they gotten into this game? It’s a profitable and strong business for one, but Harman is one of the largest purchaser of lithium batteries in the world (they’ve sold hundreds of millions of portable speakers and headphones) so they have leveraged that economy of scale to enter the market aggressively.

They’ve decided on 4 categories of accessory products: USB & Lightning Power Banks, Wall Chargers, Cables and Speakerphones.

So what’s their angle? Why buy from them vs say an established player like Anker?

InfinityLab’s got a handful of features to help differentiate them – and they’ve decided enter the market with best-in-class products.

For starters it’s the technology they use.

Technology

These batteries are cutting edge, and use the best tech available to offer the best user experience possible.

This translates to speed, reliability, and ease of use.

Super Fast Charging

InfinityLabs uses Power Delivery 3.0 in their devices, which is an upgrade to the USB protocol which allows up to 10oW of power to be used on a single cable.

This means they charge up your devices much faster than the other batteries you’ve probably used.

For my wonks, that means:

USB-C Output Power (Max.) 5V⎓3A;9V⎓3A;12V⎓2.5A;15V⎓2A;20V⎓1.5A

Lightning Out Power 5V⎓3A,9V⎓2A

The charging speed is determined by the number of devices plugged into the device. Yes you can charge more than one…

Multiple Device Charging

Charge three devices at a time with the InstantGo 10000 models, and two at a time with the InstantGo 5000 models.

All models come with smart pass-through charging, which means you can plug an InstantGo into the wall and charge it and any device plugged into it at the same time.

Believe it or not, many other batteries out there do not offer this feature, its either the battery or the device, not both.

Wireless Charging

There are two models with wireless Qi charging built-in. If you have a newer Android or Apple phone, Apple Watch, Airpods (or other brand of wirelessly charging headphones) you can just place your device on top of the battery, turn it on, and charge away.

Safety

Portable Power Banks can be well made, or cheaply made. The better ones offer protection against damage – lithium batteries have been known to explode when abused.

To combat this possibility, all InfinityLabs Power Banks have the following safety features:

  • Short-Circuit Protection
  • Over Charge/Discharge Control
  • Temperature Control
  • Overvoltage Protection
  • Overcurrent Protection
  • Incorrect Insert Protection

Design

Harman does what Harman does best with InfinityLab, and that is make award winning beautiful products.

The look and feel of these products is outstanding. They feel wonderful when you’re holding them, thanks to the soft rubberized finish which adorns the outside.

All of the products look and feel very high end, but don’t carry the hefty price tag you would expect when you get a hold of them.

The are sleek, and small, and designed for daily use.

InfinityLab’s chargers use Gallium nitride (GaN) instead of silicon, making them smaller and slimmer than many of the chargers out there.

Sustainability

For those of you interested in such things, InfinityLabs has gone the extra mile to make their product as “eco-friendly” as possible.

InfinityLabs uses 90% or more recycled plastic in the creation of their products. Their cables are wrapped in recycled polyester yarn.

The packaging is plastic free, made completely from FSC-certified paper, not oversized, and uses soy ink on the printing.

Power Banks

There are 6 different InstantGo Power Bank models in the InfinityLab lineup.

Each model comes in 2 colors, black and white.

There are 2 sizes to choose from: 10000 and 5000.

The InstantGO 10000 can charge USB-c equipped laptops and smaller devices, while the 5000 model is for phones and smaller electronics (headphones, smart watch, etc) only.

InstantGo 10000 Models

There are three models of InstantGo 10000, the larger of the two battery styles: one with wireless Qi charging, one with a USB-C cable built-in, and one with an Apple Lightning cable built-in.

All models are powerful enough to charge a laptop with USB-C type charging and have 30W outputs, and will give most smart phones two full charges.

Each of these models are capable of charging three devices at a time and holds enough charge for two iPhone 12 charges (charging depends on the type of phone.)

InstantGo 5000 Models

The 5000 models are mirror images of the 10000, just with smaller battery capacity and output.

The 5000 models will not charge laptops. Smaller devices only.

You’ll get around one full charge on your iPhone 12 with this.

The 5000 Lightning actually uses a Lightning connector to charge the battery. We’ve never seen that before, and it’s a killer feature, since you already likely have your Lightning cable with you.

Same stands for USB-C.

InstantStation Wireless Stand

If you have a Qi wireless enabled phone, having a stand is the most convenient way to charge it.

Come home at night and just drop it on there. Or have it on your desk next to the computer while you work.

We have three wireless stands in our home, but the InstantStation blows them all away.

Not only do you get the convenience of Qi charging, but the InstantStation has two USB ports (One USB-A, one USB-C) so you can charge up 3 devices at once, including a USB-C enabled laptop.

Like the InstantGo, the InstantStation uses Power Charge 3.0 tech, so you get blazing fast recharge speeds.

ClearCall

If there is one thing the last couple of years has taught us, most people have bad microphones on their computers and phones.

Now that conference calls and online meetings are the norm, it’s probably time to upgrade your communication experience.

The ClearCall works with Webex, Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Jabber, GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar, Facetime, Google Hangouts, and more.

You can also connect it to your phone or PC via Bluetooth, or plug it in via USB to your PC.

It has four microphones built-in and uses echo and noise cancellation tech to make sure you’re coming across loud and clear.

You can also use it as a portable speaker for music or audio books, or as a backup battery as well!

If you travel for business, or take calls on the road or while working from home, this is a great productivity multiplier.

Your coworkers will thank you for it.
